Our Story

We are Helen & Jerome, breeders of GCCF/GCCFI registered Tonkinese cats in Ireland.

I was born in Oxfordshire, England, and moved to Ireland, Jerome's home, at the start of 2020.

I grew up with cats and dogs, and within weeks of buying my first house in 1993 I visited the local Blue Cross and came home with my first cats, two rescue ginger siblings, Oscar and Maisie. A ginger half-Siamese named Murph joined us a month later. Various rescues followed and then, fifteen years ago, I discovered Tonkinese cats through a litter of half-Tonkinese kittens. The breeder's queen escaped from the 'cat proof' garden, had liaisons with a local tom and the result was Bijou. My love affair with Tonkinese cats had begun!

Since then I have been a slave to five Tonks.

Aurora and Celeste were Jerome's introduction to Tonks. Whilst Celeste remained my 'shadow' Aurora took to Jerome from day one and when he broke his ankle within the first few months of us meeting she would follow him everywhere, up and down the stairs, stair by stair, and curl up by his broken ankle everyday until it healed.

About Our Tonkinese

Tonkinese cats from Mo Chuisle Tonkinese are highly intelligent, mischievous, and energetic problem solvers. If you want a cat to sit around looking pretty then they are not the breed for you. You can expect 'help' with everything you do. Our kittens are raised in a house filled with music, Polly Madra the dog and all the necessary household experiences for well-socialized companions. Being GCCF/GCCFI registered means that full attention has been given to breeding responsibly and all our kittens are healthy. We do not sell any kitten which is sick or unwell. If you're considering a Tonkinese from us, know that our kittens are raised with love and care in a stimulating environment.
