TopTonk Peony

Peony (GCCF/GCCFI Registered) is our breeding queen. Loving, inquisitive, and the best climber, she loves leaping to the top of doors and watching you from above! Peony is always the first to explore anything new; She was the first to escape from the kitten room as a youngster, the first to climb the curtains, and the first to discover she could walk along the curtain pole! She's my shadow as I move around the house, talking to me and demanding strokes, and sticking her nose into everything I do.

TopTonk Pixie

Pixie (GCCF) is Peony's sister and is the clown of the family. She loves to play and especially loves her beanbag toys and balls. Pixie taught herself to play fetch and frequently plays rough and tumble with her sister. We have a small video cam set up and often catch her playing with her toys during the night. She loves Polly Madra and often curls up with her.

Tonkineers Aurora

Aurora (GCCF), our chocolate girl, is the matriarch of the family. She's a real snuggle bug and loves to climb under a blanket or inside a cardigan. It was Aurora who taught the girls to climb the curtains! Aurora spends her days cuddled up to us and occasionally joining in games with the younger girls.

Celeste, Loki & Bijou

Celeste

Sadly no longer with us, my darling Tonkineers Celeste Bleu was my first Tonkinese. A blue TCR Tonk, she was my shadow. From the moment I met her as a kitten at a few weeks old, she came straight to me, climbed onto my shoulder and fell asleep. Highly intelligent, she was constantly by my side. She would come for walks and was a great 'help' in everything I did, frequently riding on my shoulder. Celeste comprehensively tested the cat proofed garden and found the weak spots and also discovered she had exactly three seconds to dive through the cat flap before it locked behind a male cat, George, who wasn't restricted to the garden. It was Celeste who managed to break into my neighbour, Ernestine's house, just before she locked it up for the night. I spent the afternoon desperately searching for her, and then at 1.30am, Celeste set off Ernestine's burglar alarm, which was so loud that, judging by the amount of lights that went on in the street, it woke up the whole terrace! Along with Aurora, Celeste came to Ireland with us from the UK.

Loki

My love affair with Loki (Ikkarus Vom Ellerbek), a brown CPR tonk, began with a photo on Facebook. I fell in love with the cutest Tonkinese kitten who had been born with just one ear. In March 2022 Jerome and I took a road trip from Ireland to North Germany to bring him home. On the return trip we also brought his brother, Imani, back as far as the UK to join the TopTonks cattery. Imani later became Peony and Pixie's father.

Loki quickly became my new shadow. He was a full on, big, snuggly clown who literally threw himself into everything he did, at full speed! Loki never walked if he could run, he had a real, enthusiastic, exuberant zest for life. Pixie reminds me very much of her Uncle Loki, although Pixie manages to control her speed before she jumps! Very sadly Loki passed away at just a year old, and left a very big hole in my heart.

Bijou

Finally, this page is not complete without Bijou, my half Tonk and my introduction to the Tonkinese breed. Bijou loved being in the garden hunting bees, although you'd think the first time she got stung she'd stop! Bijou was a great 'helper' and would travel around the house with me in a baby sling. When I met Bijou for the first time I met her Tonkinese mum and the other Tonkineers' Tonkinese cats, and here I am, fifteen years later with a breeding queen of my own! Thank you Bijou!
